We are always happy to answer your
queries; however here are a few questions we are often asked.
Why
choose Iced Jems?
- Because we are a small company we
don’t have the overheads of larger companies, which is reflected in the price
of our cakes. Also we do not have to rush our cakes through a production line. Each cake is given the attention it deserves from design to completion.
How far
in advance should I order my cake?
- To avoid disappointment it is best
to book your cake as early as possible as we get booked up very quickly. We ask customers to order their wedding Cake
at least three months in advance and Celebration cakes two weeks before they
are required, but if possible we would be willing to make a cake at short
notice.
Do you
make both fruit and sponge cakes?
- We make a deliciously moist Fruit
cake using the finest ingredients baked to a traditional recipe and laced with
brandy. If you prefer we make a delightful Vanilla or rich chocolate sponge. Carrot cake and lemon cake are amongst other flavours often requested.
Can my
wedding cake have mixed layers of fruit and sponge cake?
- This is no problem many brides opt
for sponge as one or more of their cakes tiers.
Do you
provide cakes for special dietary requirements?
- We can make, Gluten free, egg free,
dairy free low sugar and no added nut cakes although none are suitable for
people with severe allergic
reactions.
The
flowers on your cakes are beautiful are they real?
- Beautiful hand crafted blooms made
from sugar or cold porcelain (more durable) are our speciality. Using sugar flowers, as
apposed to fresh flowers means you are not limited by seasonal flowers and
possible poisonous flowers which are not suitable for cake decoration. Sugar
flowers will not wilt or die and will be a lasting reminder of your day for
many years to come.
Do you
offer a delivery service?
- Your cake can be collected directly
from us or we can deliver locally.
For wedding cakes we offer a
delivery and set up service, this is available at a small cost of £10 (varies depending on how far the location).
How do
I pay for my cake and do you require a deposit?
- We normally require a 25% deposit
to be paid (none returnable). The balance to be paid by cheque in full two weeks before the cake is required. You may also
arrange to pay the balance in cash before
delivery or upon collection of your cake.
